Design Trends 2022

2022 is Just around the corner, and with it, 365 blank canvases for designers to enjoy with. Let’s take a look at the 2022 Design trends that are coming up this year.

Minimalism

More than a trend, minimalism has become the standard for UI design, but we will see it more and more consumer products more and more, especially on those who want to relate to technology and futuristic characteristics, from phones, computers, and smart clothing to new financial digital services. Simple, informative, minimal interfaces with touches of pastel colors here and there is the future of design.

Brutalism

Flat design, strong outlines, high contrasting colors, and bold typography is on the rise. Another characteristic is the pushing boundaries of the grid, with no constraints. Many may not be fans of brutalism design style, but it’s being adopted by players that simply want to go bold. Just check out Spotify “Wrapped”.

Aurora

Aurora backgrounds were a trend last year and solidified with the new macOS Monterey, with a purplish aurora as the main background. Subtle, colorful gradients are used not only as backgrounds but also to emphasize important UI elements.

Glassmorphism

Let’s be honest. Glassmorphism is mentioned in design trend blogs for a year or two now, but it was nothing more than an exploration exercise beginner designers loved to use in their portfolios trying to impress clients and recruiters. But since macOS Catalina implemented it majestically, other real, serious players are diving into it too. The problem with glassmorphism is that it has several accessibility problems, so designers wanting to take the challenge should put attention to this issue.

Wild Typography

Typography alone deserves its own “2022 Trends” blog post, but let’s just mention how gigantic, curvy, wild typography is being implemented by many players. It can be in straight, bold enormous titles like Elementor does on their website, or it can be thin, sans-serif types floating around in wavy designs like Glide. Just be careful, It can result in an intriguing, eye-catching effect, but it can also be completely unreadable and irritating.

3D Figures

3D Figures in websites are transforming into a new trend some like to call “claymorphism” since these figures resemble those made from clay. Brilliant colors and roundy shapes are part of this trend, which totally opposes a more realistic, natural photography style that started a few years ago as a trend and is very well settled now.

Let’s start a project
